About Mofloren-BF® Eye Drops

Rating of sales:

Description

Mofloren-BF® Eye Drops are manufactured by Indoco Remedies. The ophthalmic solution comprises two active ingredients – Moxifloxacin – a fourth-generation broad-spectrum antibiotic from the drug class called Fluoroquinolones and Bromfenac – a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), which becomes crucial for the management of eye pain and inflammation.

Indications:

- bacterial conjunctivitis followed by inflammation (swelling, redness and pain in the treated eye).

MOA (mechanism of action):

Moxifloxacin enters the bacterial cells and inhibits a bacterial enzyme called DNA-gyrase. This enzyme is involved in replicating and repairing the genetic material (DNA) of the bacteria. If this enzyme doesn't work, the bacteria cannot reproduce or repair themselves and this kills the bacteria.

Moxifloxacin is effective against gram-positive bacteria (Corynebacterium species, Streptococcus viridans Group), gram-negative bacteria (Enterobacter cloacae, Haemophilus influenzae, Klebsiella oxytoca, Moraxella catarrhalis, Serratia marcescens), anaerobic microorganisms (Proprionibacterium acnes) etc. Bromfenac reduces inflammation, pain, increased IOP (intraocular pressure). It exhibits its action through ability to block prostaglandin synthesis by inhibiting cyclooxygenase 1 and 2. Prostaglandins are known to be mediators of certain kinds of intraocular inflammation. They produce disruption of the blood-aqueous humor barrier, vasodilation, increased vascular permeability, leukocytosis, and hypertension in the eye.

Dosage

The recommended dose is 1 drop into the treated eye(s) 3 times a day.

Continue using drops for 5 days. After the infection improves, instill drops for a further 2-3 days.

If no improvement is observed within 5 days of initiating therapy, the treatment should be redetermined.

The duration of treatment depends on the severity of the disorder.

Do not use Mofloren-BF® Eye Drops longer than 2 weeks and do not stop using without consulting your doctor.

Precautions:

Mofloren-BF® Eye Drops are for adults and kids over 1 year of age.
