About Combigan® Eye Drops

Rating of sales:

Combigan® eye drops are manufactured by Allergan. The active substances are Brimonidine and Timolol. Brimonidine is an alpha adrenergic agonist while Timolol is a non-selective beta-adrenergic antagonist (beta-blocker). Both ingredients exhibit a potent hypotensive action.

- elevated IOP due to primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) or chronic glaucoma;

- raised pressure in the eye (ocular hypertension).

MOA (mechanism of action):

Timolol and Brimonidine are antihypertensive and antiglaucoma agents, that decrease the pressure within the eye by reducing the inflow of aqueous humor into the eyeball. These medications are combined to produce a greater effect than either medication produces on its own.

The recommended dose is one drop, 2 times daily at about 12-hour interval.

Do not change the dose or stop taking it without speaking to your doctor.

If you use another ophthalmic medication, wait at least 5 minutes before using it after administering Combigan® eye drops.

Combigan® eye drops are not intended for use in children under 2 years of age.

Combigan® solution is for topical ophthalmic use only, not for injection.

Combigan® solution is associated with allergic reactions, even following a single dose. Discontinue using Combigan® immediately and contact your physician at the first sign of a rash or allergic reaction.

Avoid contaminating the applicator tip with eye, fingers or another source.

Contact lenses should be removed before administrating Combigan® eye drops and may be reinserted after 15 minutes.

Wash your hands before using the eye drops.

Missing a dose

If you miss a dose you should instill it as soon as you remember about your missing. If it is the time for the next dose you should continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not instill a double dose to make up for a missed one.

If an overdose occurs and you are not feeling well, stop taking the medication immediately. You should seek emergency medical attention or contact your healthcare provider immediately.

Store at room temperature between 2 to 25 degrees C (36 to 77 degrees F), away from moisture, light and heat. Do not freeze. Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use. Use within 28 days after opening a container. Keep out of the reach of children.
